The Norman Staircase at Canterbury Cathedral

The Norman Staircase.

This photograph depicts one of the oldest remaining structures of Canterbury Cathedral. By the year 1070 the Cathedral was completely rebuilt by the Normans, due to a major fire. A staircase now known as "The Norman Staircase", and parts of the North Wall in the area of the North West transept, are all that remain from that building.
